Camilo was killed
Camilo
Catrillanca was a mapuche leader who was killed by Carabineros de Chile in 23 November
2018. His death has significantly marked a major milestone in the Chile/Mapuche
conflict, because until today there isn't any information of his
murderers.
The
next Thursday after Catrillanca's homicide, there were protests in multiple
cities, like Temuco, Santiago, Valparaíso and others, against the severe
negligence of the Government, and the answer of it was repression, at the same
level at the one that existed in military dictatorship.
Things
like this can't be happening in our days. The assassination of an innocent man,
the police repression against mapuche people, children, and protesters are
thing that aren't possible in a democracy
People
point the responsibility of this events at the Araucania's mayor; Luis
Mayol, General Director of Carabineros; Hermes Soto and Interior Minister;
Andrés Chadwick. The first one has already renounced, so, it's a matter of
time that the other ones do it too. They must do it.
Also we need
the recognition of the Mapuche nation, so maybe they can forgive all the harm
we did to them. To give back their lands is also important for reconciliation
The entire
country is also involved in this. His murder has polarized the opinions of the
citizens; the ones who believe that Camilo Catrillanca was a thief, and the
others who think he was a hero.
everything is mess up nowadays
ResponderEliminarUnfortunately, I think it's impossible to make Chadwick renounce: surely he has more power than Piñera.
ResponderEliminarAs Amanda, I also think Chadwick has a lot of power so it won't be easy to make him renounce and even if it happens, he would still be involved in all important government decisions
ResponderEliminarthis is terrible, and so is this government
ResponderEliminarIt is very powerful everything that happens with the Mapuche people and never the Chilean State has behaved as it should, there is much to change in this country.
